In all my struggles to overcome this addition using my own willpower, I finally realized I could not do it myself and was therefore an addict. After understanding that my behavior had actually physically modified my brain and damaged it with respect to its processing of the sensation of pleasure, that the loss of the Spirit blocked my ability to feel the tender feelings of the heart for which I longed, and that I had to turn over my will to Christ in order for His atonement to heal me, I was able to do so and see and feel the healing of my soul so I no longer felt the cravings of this powerful addition nor the desire to indulge in it.

If you are involved in pornography, please read this book! It will instruct you on how all addictions affect the brain, what damage addictions do to the human brain physically, why this damage creates the addiction's powerful cravings, and why pornography is the most powerful addiction of all.

It also instructs you in the spiritual aspects of addiction and addiction recovery, and urges you to seek help through the step recovery program where you basically learn how to really repent, line upon line, until Christ and His Atonement can heal you and do for you what we all cannot do for ourselves.

This is a great and wonderful book and I, for one, am very glad someone introduced it to me; it and step changed my life! I am a recovering addict to pornography. Through a recent separation and eventually divorce, I finally learned that I could only hope to win my battle over pornography through relying on the Lord. He Restoreth My Soul was a huge eye opener to me. It shares in great detail the physical, emotional, and spiritual effects of an addiction to pornography.

Written by a brain surgeon, this book first talks about the fact that pornography is literally an addictive drug, and makes a valid argument for classifying it as such.

The second part of the book, the most important part, details the spiritual aspects of recovering from a pornography addiction. One of my favorite parts are the actual interviews of people in and couples assisting each other in recovering from these addictions.

If you are an addict, this book is for you. If you are a loved one of an addict, it's also for you. If you are a spouse of an addict, you need this just as much as they do.
